ABOUT THIS ARTIST
Mel Kadel, born in 1973, grew up in the Pennsylvania suburbs and graduated with a B.F.A. from Moore College of Art & Design (Philadelphia) in 1997. After living in NYC for a couple of years, she moved west to California. Mel has been living and working in Los Angeles for the last 12 years. She began showing work in small cafes and galleries, and collaborating with local bands and other artists. The figures in her work portray a strength and defiance, while never accepting the label of victim.
